Project: BC Hydro Interior to Lower Mainland Transmission Line – Avalanche Risk Assessment and Snow Creep and Glide Loads on Structures

The Interior to Lower Mainland (ILM) project is a 500 kV transmission line which connects a sub-station in Nicola, BC to the Meridian sub-station in Coquitlam, BC. The line is 248 km in length and uses a lattice tower design. Dynamic was retained to perform an avalanche risk assessment on tower structures and conductors and an assessment of snow creep and glide loads on tower structures. Dynamic mapped avalanche hazards and provided recommendations to mitigate avalanche risk and snow creep and glide forces.
