Project: Skeena 2L101 T Line Restoration – Snow Hazard Assessment

Dynamic presented the results of a preliminary avalanche hazard assessment of the Skeena 2L101 Transmission Line Structures 66/4 to 67/2. Structure 67/1 was destroyed by an avalanche on or around February 28, 2018; the line was temporarily restored with installation of a v-guyed lattice steel tower. Structure 67/1 has been damaged or destroyed several times in the past. The purpose of the work was to provide an updated assessment of avalanche hazard to Structure 67/1 and the adjacent structures, evaluate structural mitigation options, and hazard avoidance options. Additionally, control options were evaluated to manage avalanche risk for the next winter for the temporary tower at 67/1.
