Squaw Valley & Alpine Meadows Avalanche Mitigation Review
Client: SE Group
Squaw Valley and Alpine Meadows ski resorts are sister-resorts located Northwest of Lake Tahoe in California. Dynamic provided reviews of existing avalanche control procedures, the proposed Base-to-Base Gondola (which would connect the resorts), as well as avalanche areas that affect the Alpine Meadows Road.

Dynamic conducted reviews and analyses of topographic maps, photographs, proposed gondola alignments, snow climate data, historical avalanche data and explosive control records. Field inspections of avalanche areas and proposed exploder locations were conducted with avalanche control personnel. Dynamic provided preliminary unit cost estimates for preferred systems and compared mitigation alternatives.

Alyeska Resort, Alaska replaced an existing fixed-grip chair with a new high-speed detachable quad in the summer of 2013. Servicing high volumes of skiers and riders, this provides primary lift access to the upper mountain trails at Alyeska Resort. It is located in an area that receives heavy annual snowfall, and was previously affected by snow creep and glide loads in November 2007. Dynamic performed an analysis of creep and glide loads and made recommendations for mitigation.
