FEATURED FORESTRY PROJECTS

Forest Operations: Avalanche Safety Plan, Avalanche Risk Assessments and Operational Avalanche Safety Program
Client: Canadian Forest Products
Canadian Forest Products (Canfor) Kootenay operations are located in the Purcell and Rocky Mountains of southeast British Columbia between Golden and the Canada/US border. Dynamic was engaged to develop and implement an avalanche safety program for Canfor’s forest operations in the Kootenay region. This involved preparing a regional avalanche safety plan and completing avalanche risk assessments. We then delivered avalanche training to workers as well as designed and implemented an operational avalanche safety program with regular avalanche hazard forecasts and avalanche control.

Forest Operations: Snow Avalanche Risk Assessment and Avalanche Safety Plan
Client: Wynndel Box and Lumber Ltd.
Dynamic was retained to provide an avalanche risk assessment and prepare an avalanche safety plan for forest harvesting operations in the Gray Creek Drainage of the Purcell Mountain range, approximately 80 km north of Creston, BC. The avalanche safety plan describes operational procedures to manage avalanche risk to workers. We also provided regular avalanche hazard forecasts during operations.

Forest Operations: Avalanche Safety Plan, Avalanche Risk Assessments and Operational Avalanche Safety Program
Client: International Forest Products
Dynamic has worked with International Forest Products (Interfor) over the past several years providing avalanche risk assessments and avalanche hazard forecasting for forest operations in the BC Coast Mountains. In the spring of 2014, Dynamic produced Interfor’s Canadian Woodlands Avalanche Safety Plan which outlines operational procedures to manage avalanche risk to workers.

Forest Health Surveys: Avalanche Safety Plan, Avalanche Risk Assessments and Operational Avalanche Safety Program
Client: BC Ministry of Forests, Lands and Natural Resource Operations
For this project Dynamic was asked to provide avalanche safety services to facilitate forest health field work in the Mark Creek drainage of the southern Purcell Mountains west of Kimberley, BC. The primary concern was the access road to the work sites that traverses a pass with over 2 km of continuous exposure to avalanche hazards. Dynamic conducted an avalanche risk assessment, developed an avalanche safety plan, and implemented an operational avalanche safety program that included delivering training sessions to field staff, active monitoring of avalanche hazard and implementing mitigation measures.
